Opelousas, Louisiana,
April 6, 2007 -- St. Landry Cinema I, LLC, Acadiana
owned and operated by Doug Collins and Gerald Judice,
has commenced renovations of St. Landry Cinema.
“It has been nearly a year since we originally announced
renovation plans and we are excited and eager to finally
get renovations started. This will be a significantly
new and improved theater experience to the movie-goers
of St. Landry Parish”, said Doug Collins.
The design work was completed by Cinema Building
Services of Austin, Texas. The general contractor is
Rudick Company, Inc., of Lafayette.
Plans entail the complete renovation of all four
auditoriums that will feature state-of-the-art amenities
including stadium-style seating that will create an
unobstructed view of the screen and dts® digital stereo
sound systems that will provide sharp, crystal-clear
sound. The new St. Landry Cinema will also feature all
new, high-back, rocking chairs with cup-holding arm
rests, more spacious rows for added leg room and
comfort, and all new carpeting, wall coverings, lighting
and ceiling tiles. “Most everything the customer sees
and touches inside the auditoriums will be brand new.
We are basically stripping these auditoriums down to
the shell and starting fresh” said Gerald Judice. The
first two auditoriums will reopen Friday April 20 and
the second two will reopen early June.
Other major improvements will eventually include
renovation of the lobby, concession stand, restrooms and
entrances. These improvements have been temporarily
deferred as timing did not allow completion of this work
prior to the busy summer season.
St. Landry Cinema is
conveniently located on Heather Drive just off the I-49
south service road in Opelousas. |
